Problem:
In triangle CAT, we have β ACT=β ATC and β CAT=36β. If TR bisects β ATC, then β CRT=
Answer Choices:
A. 16β
B. 51β
C. 72β
D. 90β
E. 108β
Solution:
Since β ACT=β ATC and β CAT=36β, we have 2(β ATC)= 180ββ36β=144β and β ATC=β ACT=72β. Because TR bisects β ATC, β CTR=21β(72β)=36β. In triangle CRT,β CRT=180ββ36ββ72β=72β.
Note that some texts use β ACT to define the angle and mβ ACT to indicate its measure.
